Hi everyone...

Ok found my oversized 39mm steel snap back case Omega with a caliber 266 movement case ref 2609 2 . The watch takes a 20 mm strap, wears large on the wrist due to the thin bezel anf hi rise plastic crystal. Original dial with scratches and marks and the extremely large sub seconds register. This example also has the tear drop lug silhouette.















I would really like everyone who has an over sized 30 mm Omega to post and would like to get an idea of the number of case refs that Omega produced.

I remember asking Omega about my ref got a "sorry" we could not find a catalog pic ...

Both were around 38mm excluding the crown.

I have since sold both of them.

Here's my 2272. SS ,powered by a 30T2 PC. Serial # 10 Mil.

  

   listed   as 37.5mm,

     

     OT 2272

• Caliber number: 260 / 265
• Cal. 260
  Created in 1941, 15 jewels
  Cal. 265
  Created in 1949, 15 jewels
  Case : round (37,5 mm diameter)
  For leather straps of 20 mm lug-size
  

   And it's a bit smaller than the Jumbo 2545.

 

with case ref of 2272-3.

I doubt that your watch is a 2609...  it looks completely like my 2544 while the  2609 looks different as we can see by the other examples in this thread...

Just an assumption!

One of the 2 shown 2609 must be wrong or a marriage!

Have you ever asked for an extract from the archives to confirm movement and case matching??

I have one 2544 but unfortunately case is not at hand - it is in Germany for restoration at the time - I have only a poor picture of the case...

But at least you can see the strait parallel lugs and the wide bezel - it looks completely like yours!

And you can find it on the Omega data base where you can see the lugs in profile (oval shape)!

The other references shown in this thread are considerably smaller at 37,5mm  (1,5mm less).

So 2544 and 2545 (SC) should be the largest 30mm cases at 39mm I guess.

By looking at the lugs and shape, it's a 2544 powered by a 266 caliber like this one.

Agree it looks exactly like your ref.... 2544 ,  I do not know why the caseback is marked 2609.  Also The caseback of the 2609 in the other posts would not fit my watch.  They also have a different shape to them.

Just odd I guess..  miss-marked caseback as silly as that sounds.   I dont know what else to think ... There is not a big market for these...
