Omega

Hi ! After a recent discussion with one of the moderators (hi Mike !) I finally decided to upgrade myself from "lurker" condition
So here I am posting this and a pic of my Omega DeVille prestige chronograph ... a rare watch from my point of view (if one of you have one of the same type - please join my post). Even in a mail received from Mr. Chuck Maddox (God rest his soul), he was saying to me that "I hadn't seen one in about 3 or 4 years before your email". The reference number is 4840.30.00.
Anyhow is a great watch and I really enjoy wearing it - now I have put it on a bracelet for sumer time ...

. . . DeVille chronograph, which I'm guessing is 1990's vintage . . . can you tell us what movement resides within? Considering the subdial layout and the lack of a date, it could be an Omega cal 1861 manual winding movement as fitted in the Speedmaster . . . thanks, Art

regarding the question, I didn't open the watch yet and will not open it soon. From what I have searched I was able to locate it's production date circa 1985 after the serial number on the case-back. This leads me to conclusion that it uses cal. 861 - 17 jewels.
On the other hand, Omega list it as it was introduced in 1993, in this case is very hard to find the caliber inside without opening it.
Going further with my research I found that despite the fact that it can use a bracelet, nobody (including Omega) knows this and all list it as it was only produced with leather strap. Well, it can be putted on a bracelet - ref. 1509 / 836.

Anyhow I really consider the idea of going to my watchmaker and open it after reading a very interesting article about the "18th jewel" and I'm really curious what monster lies inside ...

This watch does have an 861 and later a 1861 beating in its interior.  Classically beautiful. 

 

Do you have a shot on the bracelet?  I'm curious as to it's design.

... of course my poor photo skills don't do it's justice, but it's a nice dressy bracelet. I think it looks killer on the bracelet because in my opinion the bracelet is taking the best out of the dial ...
Is one of the silky bracelets - thin enough and very gentle at touch. Mirror finished.
