I didn't remember how/when I got that, so I searched my email and found a 2007 email exchange with the watchmaker who repairs my quartz Omegas. This was back when people could easily order parts from Omega, and I used to ask him to get me extra gaskets, plastic date discs, and other parts that often needed replacement in those quartz watches. I wrote this to him: "Could you see if you can get one (1) stainless steel half-link (not full link) + pin for the Omega Planet Ocean ref, no. 2201.50.00, bracelet no. 1580/952?" Apparently he got it for me!
Some of us prefer the original version for several reasons like case’s shape, height of the watch, how it looks on the wrist. What are the characteristics you like more?
Omega sports watches were thinner with less gimmicks. Everything you need , nothing you don’t. I love the open 6 and 9 printed in white on the dial, along with the simple layout, text and bezel. Personally I like this case shape far more than the 2025 release. Only reason I let go of mine was because it wore too large on my wrist . But I’m on the hunt for a blue 39.5 mm PO, and this may happen in the next month or so! All the best my friend, and Merry Christmas to you!
Several or the characteristics that I also like very much: open 6 and 9, thinness, nothing that wasn’t needed. I also like the matt dial, the black date disk, the case shape, the domed crystal and those beautiful twisted lugs. And I also like very much the 39mm version, which went off much before 37-39 divers became trendy again. I hope you can get one soon, and enjoy it very much as I enjoy mine. Thanks for sharing your thoughts here, and I wish you all the very best tu you. Have a merry merry Christmas!
I must say the bigger brother looks very good on you!
In fact when I went to shop mine, I spent easily two hours trying both just to make sure I was choosing the best size for me. My mind told me: go bigger, but at the end my heart went with the smaller one.
