Beyond cool …
Used for the first time in the Olympic games in Los Angeles, this beautifully made chronograph represented a new era in sports time keeping and the start of Omega’s crucial role as official timekeeper.
It makes you realise that without the precision timekeeping, the games would fairly pointless.

And yes, they most certainly would! That at least is one area, where chronographs might still have a use. In theory 😉 But we will continue enjoying them irrespective 😁👍🏻

My recollection is that when Omega released a limited number for sale in '08 their asking price was over that of the central tourbillon. I could be wrong about that, but not by much.

Funny ... I see a hair spring coil on your picture.
Lange used also a hair spring coil in theire 1815 rattrapante serious, which is not allowed to use under The Geneva Seal. 🤔
Omega does do Supertlative Chronometer Officially Certified at its best, not Rolex!
Purist, people with knowledge, kniow this.
Rolex made a clever move: sold Tudor cases under Rolex name (maxi cases) and Oyster cases under Tudor name.
However, it worked in both ways! 😃
