But the really unexpected difference is the bi-directional nap of the cloth: it's fast down table, slow up table. So an identical shot in opposite directions requires adjustment to velocity and cue ball accent (English, draw, and follow).
All in all, it's easier for a snooker player to adjust to pool than the other way around.
