at first glimpse I thought you are showing the CB movement....
the main plate here is not Au??...or is it??...looks too nice to be brass...
copper on beryllium
Starting in 1941 in some cal. 30 was introduced the so-called “de luxe finish”, a double copper plating on beryllium bronze (an alloy of beryllium and 2.25% copper) that made the movement more resistant mechanically and to oxidation, as well as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as it looked as rose gold. The “deluxe finish” was completed by curved fine brushing. All Rg chronometres had this finish.
Six in my collection, none of which . . .
. . . are absolutely perfect. But if I'd been more discriminating, I wouldn't have any at all.
To score an rg these days, one must be willing to accept imperfections. Practically nothing that's come up recently is flawless. There's a 2410 on eBay now with substantial issues. If I had the wherewithal I'd be in the hunt, even considering the serious problems (seconds hand and crown) that can be discerned from the seller's pics. But this just isn't the right time for another dip in the pool, so I have to let it go.
