Omega Naïad "Medicus"
This has just arrived.
Omega's first "standard" waterproof watch. Gasket in the back and a cork gasket in the crown tube. Their first center second movement cal. 23.4 SC, called Medicus because doctors could measure the time accurate with the large second hand

A very nice piece with an awesome case size which in my opinion all self respect high end watchmakers should make pieces with 32 to 38 case size. Again that is my opinion. [nt]

The only thing I would change is make it Ø 39 mm and add an A/R glass. ...And I always sigh; why can't they make classic pieces like this in 2015?

I wonder about that, too, Richard, and the only reasonable answer . . .
. . . I can come up with is that the machine tools (and to some extent, materials), as well as the extent of skilled labor, used to produce watches have changed markedly since then.
To replicate Thomas' watch today in precisely the same way it was made then could cost multiples of what it would take to build within the constraints of current production technology. Even manufacturers like Nomos that cater to the lower range (price-wise) of today's consumer make extensive use of computer assisted design and manufacturing.
My sense is that if it weren't for Grand Seiko, any semblance to mass watch production of the Golden Age would be gone.
