Scuderia Ferrari Rattrapante Foudroyante in Rose Gold
Dear all,
"Amanico" has posted a photo of this watch in white metal.
gp.watchprosite.com
I have owned this watch at one point in time.
It's a special piece and was introduced in 1999 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Scuderia Ferrari racing team, founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1927 (18 years before the car company Ferrari S.p.A was founded in 1947). Hence the logo "SF" on the dial.
It comes in yellow gold, white gold, platinum and my favorite - rose gold. All are limited. This rose gold version is limited to 150 pieces.
It houses the GP 8020 automatic caliber, with 45-hour power reserve, vibration of 28,800 vph.
This piece features the following complications:
1. Rattrapante (Split second).
2. Foudroyante. Once the chronograph is activated, the red hand on the left side spins continuously to measure 1/8 elasped second. It's a very "vivid" complication, and is quite cool to look at it in action.
The case measures a healthy size of 40mm not including the crown. The rose gold used has a rather strong red hue to it - certainly not causing any confusion as to whether it is yellow or rose gold. The domed back makes the watch quite comfortable to wear, with no flat or sharp edges.
The finishing on the case is nice, and is an interplay of polished bezel/lugs/pushers, with satin-finished sides.
The faceted rose gold markers, the rose gold hands, and the red foudroyante hand
provide plenty of interesting depth and colors to the dial.
To the best of my memory, the movement was quite reliable and I enjoyed wearing it for quite a long time.
Please enjoy the photos.
Yours truly,
Jon (Z3)

Tony
Good Morning Tony. funny that you brought it up!
Yes I have owned the white dial version of the rose gold as well (and also a yellow gold version, still trying to find some the photos from my archive).
Yep, I've owned all of those in the "hay days", you know when that was...
The dial is white but has a faint cream color to it - goes very well with the rose gold case.
Yours truly,
Jon (Z3)

I loved it a lot in platinum, but the RG Black dial combo is awesome too.
what a contrast!
What an elegance!
A winner, in my book.
Best, and thanks for sharing.

Here are pictures of the yellow Gold version. This particular edition is limited to 250 pieces.
In contrast with the dials for the rose gold versions, notice the markers are painted, and the hands are of a different, more pronounced shape. (both the hands/markers are luminous).
This configuration gives the watch a more sporty and more lively look. Some might love it for its legibility, while others might prefer the classic applied gold-markers and the elegantly styled leaflet hands (just like how some people might feel about the Lange 1 "Luminous").
Yours truly,
Jon (Z3)
