I took some pics of my GP 2598 and my brother’s as well.

Mine is on the rubber strap and his is on the orginal croco strap. I swapped my leather strap to rubber today as it was quite rainy. What do you think of the rubber strap?

So this Neo-vintage 2598 is rather rare as only 30 pieces were ever made as a LE circa 2003.

They were made by the legendary Gino Macaluso. Central chronograph, bi-compax, cushion case in 38 mm.

Can be difficult to take pics of black-dialed watches without glare.

While I am generally not a fan of rubber the case shape works well with it IMHO 👌🏻👍🏻

Yes but the irony is that my brother doesn’t wear them. He lives in Colorado and leaves his watches with me. He just likes to look at them. Go figure 😄

This LE was made for Asia. Very little information exists about it beyond that.

I like this rubber strap because it is not flat. It’s tapered and it’s gets a thicker towards the lugs. So the watch is balanced well.

I really like bi compax chronographs and these two from Girard Perregaux are stunning. I especially like the angles of the case that just makes it look more special and interesting it is a shame they only made 30 examples of this beauty and would do well to do a modern reissue IMHO.

I had high hopes for the recent diver cushion case reissue but alas, it didn’t rock my boat.

IMHO, black rubber doesn't really work here, it somewhat cheapens the watch, I think. For a more casual look I would try light grey suede.

Suede doesn’t do well with water.

Anyway, I think this rubber strap gives it a sporty look for a change. ☺️

I never see them on the secondary market and now I know why. Didn’t realize only 30 were produced. Congrats on owning them to you and your brother.

I think they are with real collectors who just don’t want to part with them.

It’s always nice when a rare one is also a beautiful one. The best combo.

Quite interesting. You have another cushion shaped chronograph as well, right? I’m not a fan of cushion watches but (maybe because it’s GP) these look good.

All were made under the auspices of Gino Macaluso. Circa 1999 to 2005.

“Vintage 1960” was the initial name for the ref 2598. It was later changed to “Vintage 1970”. This is because it was determined that it was more apt as GP made some more cushion cases in 1970 vs 1960.

There is also the ref 2498, 2499 and 9012.

All 38 mm and cushion cases.
