The reflections from some of the plants on the dial turned out to give an interesting effect.
This cushion case 38 mm bi-compax is a favorite of mine. The ref. 2499 had only about 122 pieces of the black dial (more charcoal grey) made circa 2003. And this one is double-signed with the Omani Khanjar engraved on the caseback.
The guilloche pattern gives a 3-D effect for the dial when the light catches it.

Thank you for sharing this one. I agree, the plants give a fun background that play with the watch's surfaces! But what is fascinating to me is the dial. It looks excellent, subtle in black, but still detailed and pretty.

Vintage is very different from vintage and I’m glad you raise the point about the quail out of the dial even after 20 years.
The 1990s to early 2000 has some crazy amazing GPs that were off catalog. But one must know the reference numbers to be able to search for them amongst the many other listings.
The production methods are the same as what they are today. Sapphire crystal glass, not plexy. Dials that retain their color. Cases that are sharp. NEO vintage is a goldmine if you know what to look for. Sizes like 38 mm are what is hawt now.
I encourage you to check out ref 2598 as well. Another beautiful reference which is rare relative to the quantities made today.
But of course, the 2499 is the most rare.
The silver dial is beautiful too.

is unclear Some reports are 50. Some reports are less.
Awesome watch and story. I worked in Oman early 2000 's and remember several government collaborations with Swiss brands. Thank you very much for sharing photos and stories

The beauty (and this is what I really want folks to see) of these GP neo vintage pieces … I too like some of the current production pieces but there is some very special neo vintage and rare pieces that folks could add to their collections a relatively low $ amount.
