Vintage is very different from vintage and I’m glad you raise the point about the quail out of the dial even after 20 years.
The 1990s to early 2000 has some crazy amazing GPs that were off catalog. But one must know the reference numbers to be able to search for them amongst the many other listings.
The production methods are the same as what they are today. Sapphire crystal glass, not plexy. Dials that retain their color. Cases that are sharp. NEO vintage is a goldmine if you know what to look for. Sizes like 38 mm are what is hawt now.
I encourage you to check out ref 2598 as well. Another beautiful reference which is rare relative to the quantities made today.
But of course, the 2499 is the most rare.
