Let's have a look at the beautiful photos of this overlooked 36 mm Retrograde Date Moonphase Perpetual Calendar with screw down crown produced circa 1990.

The watch is powered by a calibre based on the JLC 888 with additional module on top.
The watch comes in two references (1206 & 1165), which I haven't been able to tell apart from each other.

Both are beautiful.
But I much prefer the platinum version on the grey strap as I just think it looks sharper. Thanks for your post and pictures about these great watches.

Definitely a charming reference
For me I like the look of the platinum one, plus I love the back just had ginormous hand(?) engraving with plating and the limitation number.
I personally like both variants,
but I certainly understand your preference for the platinum one.

What a beautifully balanced piece!
Like both of them, but with a slight preference
towards the one in platinum. The only thing that I think
would improve the dial would be the omission of
automatic, or perhaps have it curved at the bottom of
the circle. Drawing a blank here - what's the term for
the texture of the dial? Very nice and interesting post.
Would "grainy texture" be a satisfying description?
The Automatic doesn't bother me that much, but I see what you mean.

Yes, grainy texture does the trick. Reminds me an experience I had
trading piano lessons for chess lessons with a friend
who was a strong master. He asked me "what do you
call all of the E flats at the top of the second page of
Beethoven's Appassionata?" I said the term is ostinato,
but you could also say all the E flats at the top of the
second page. A while back you had this fantastic post
on Breguet rotors. There was one you called the Nautilus,
and then it struck me, yes, of course - looks like waves.

I also prefer the platinum. The pushers for setting the calendar appear raised rather than flush with the case. I assume you still have to use a stylus to set it? Thanks for the informative post.
