Around ten more days to wait, and to remove the curtain from THE question.

2013 will be the 50th anniversary of the 50 Fathoms.





I am quite certain that Blancpain will not miss the occasion to celebrate this moment, for what we can undisputably call a Cult Watch.

What can it be?

A reasonably sized watch?

A no date version, to get close to the original model?

A classic look?

Or all the contrary, a modern and exhuberant version of the mother of all the modern diving watches?

Take your ticket, and shout loud: What are you expecting / dreaming for?

....i had to go back to the Series 2 50th Anniversary to find a case size and style that I liked.... so tend to agree.... looking for a 40mm...would be nice...no date.

.....with vintage it was easy...so much to choose from.

Even though the 50th Anniversary is a damn hard bird to catch!

Therefore you need a 3 / 6 / 9 / 12 to do the pair!

Heart says, bring a 40-42mm version, with no date, brushed ssteel, sapphire bezel.

Logic says, going backwards in size would be a declaration of a mistake in the 45mm, while it would make the current models unsellable. Hence logic says, a 45mm version with maybe a refined design overall?

At least, Blancpain can take the opportunity to celebrate an important anniversary to releease a FF in a smaller case.

But I am not Blancpain, and I don't know if they have omething hidded under their sleeve.

But also hoping for larger FF's to suit my wrist. 

it worked brilliantly for Longines and the LLD, its worked for Omega on several models so why should it not work for Blancpain and the fifty fathoms?

Something WITHOUT the current shape of case they are tending to favour. I've no problem if they made it large (well, unto 42mm), so long as the case design was leaning towards a functional diver case, in the style of the vintage FF and not a glossy heavily decorated / engraved case like their current Fifty Fathoms.

We wait and see. I would love it to be a true re-edition, but something tells me they will favour their current designs..

There appears to be a new Bathyscape (smaller size, no crown guards, no saphire bezel (2) and see-trough case-back. A foto can be found on ruegger blog spot (I don't know, whether direct links are allowed). If you do a google search with these words, you should however easily find it.

Well, the Bathy does look like a downgraded version of current FFs. No sapphire bezel , instead a Liquidmetal bezel which comes from Omega, no curved sapphire crystal, etc.

The only nice part is the case shape (not sure what is the size though).

If there is no anniversary indeed, an underwhelming performance from BP I would dare say.
