Something rarely seen? (With a thought for the great Miles Davis.)
Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Flyback Chronograph Ref 5200, Ocean Commitment I, limited edition of 250 pieces launched in 2014.
I have been looking for this version ever since since it was presented in 2014. Patience pays. It is now on my wrist.
I couldn’t be happier, since:
- BLANCPAIN is my favourite brand (after 30 years collecting the most famous luxury brands)
- F385 is my favourite chronograph Caliber
- BLUE is my favourite colour.
I had never seen it in person until I received it today. That’s 11 years of silent love!
First impressions:
I am surprised that the ceramic case is so dark: it has a gunmetal aspect that I adore, paired with the metallic blue.
The colour of the case is close to titanium (that it emulates), which allows to use the various Blancpain FF titanium hardware, to play with combos (déployante, nato…)
The dots and the hands are slightly smaller than my standard steel 5200 which I purchased in 2014. The glow power being the same, I assume that it will glow all night while retaining a slightly more discrete look (despite the intense electric blue). I will know tomorrow morning
The blue, the blue… What to say? I am in love with this dial 💙
And cherry on top, it will combine brilliantly with my OEM barenia straps, if I ever become tired of the adorable blue sailcloth.
Show yours if you happen to have any of the remaining 249…
Good evening, mates!
💙💙💙
A happy Blancpain fan
