After doing the comparison between 15400OR and 25320OR for a while, i 've "KINDA" decided to go for 15400OR due to its in-house movement, but i recently bumped into a friend who wore an AP offshore safari, and i suddenly fell for it after tried it on, loved its look, but the only downside is 44mm bezel looked a bit big and chunky on my wrist, although its a absolutely stunning watch, and it really stands out from its thickness and manly look..but i'm still kinda favor 15400OR though,  i know they are completely two types of watches, but i've tried both on, they both look great, or should i go back to 26320OR?( sorry for beijing so indecisive)  can i get some input-votes on these  these? thanks so much!!!

... the value of these questions is that it allows owners to describe what they like and don't like about the watches in question. Sometimes they point out aspects you hadn't considered. They allow you see something new through their eyes.

And even better if we know the reviewers / writers / PuristS tastes, likes and dislikes. I used to follow the main HiFi journalists and over time, through careful listening and comparisons, built up an understanding of what they liked and why. Similarly there are a few PuristS who's impressions of watches and opinion usually meshes with mine. I won't say who they are, but when they write enthusiastically about a watch I usually sit up and take notice.

Of course you are correct that we should never buy a watch based on what others like (and we don't). Gut feelings are usually right in this respect.

And most importantly we should avoid the excitement and hype about new watches on the market.

put this thread into question. I only want to make clear, that if someone has to find a decisssion

between two really differnet watches, his own feelings are the most important, because owners,

who loves there own watches find the most arguments for them and uses them in there answers, of course.

But perhabs it helps.

 

I personnaly think, it would be a good idea to have both in his own hands and by the way i would check

the new 15400 in regarding the dimmensions of the case, because it is different to old 15202

(not only the size). The best would be also to look for the new 15202 (alternativ to 15400) also.

 

Problem would be, how and when to manage this.

 

I talked last week with a authorized AP-dealer in Zürich.

At the moment it is not possible to by a "standard AP RO Modell" in the whole switzerland.

The new 15202 first should come in December. Now AP prooves to bring this watch earlier.

We will see.

... and I just re-read my reply and fear it came across as overly 'preachy'. Apologies for that.

As PuristS we should look deeply into what is special or not about a watch, even (particularly) the ones we buy for our own collections. I do trust (some) PuristS to give an objective opinion, although sometimes it is worth asking pointedly "is there one thing you don't like about this watch?"

I say go for the non-offshore chrono.

This way you get "some" of the wrsit presense that the Offshore has (plus the new size 41mm) and at the same time you still get am elegant refined watch that is not as loud as the Offshore.

My choice is the 15400 as i have owned the safari years ago and it didn't last long. I feel the royal oak is a classic and I love the new size and dials of the 41mm. The 15400 is closer to the original 1970's design and will become a new classic IMHO.

Apologies for not being clear. The watch worked well I just lost interest quickly.

i see what you meant, and i feel the same for 15400or, plus i have a relatively small wrist, so i think rose gold would suit me better? did you interest on safari's look? cuz its a quite popular offshore watch.

Like I said before quality wise they are all the same I just feel the royal oaks are timeless and the safari is a theme watch that will go out of style eventually.
