Hi AP community,

Could you guys help me settle this once and for all; I want to have the City Of Sails rubberstrap fitted to a Royal Oak 15300.
I have this picture saved on my computer which I pulled of a forum a while back, ever since then I've wanted to do the same.


I've now gotten my hands on a City Of Sails strap and am about to close on a 15300, but question is: Which plots are really needed for this spec?

From what I can understand, there's three options:
- Standard 15300 plots
- RO Chrono (e.g 25860 or 26300) plots
- Aftermarket (non AP OEM) plots

Could any purist out there please help me out on which ones to get?

My understanding is that there are no standard SS plots for the 15300 to use with a strap. I've spoken with Will at the AP Boutique in NYC and he says it's not something that AP had wanted to offer at the time. All of the SS plots are pre-fabricated as as integral part of the SS bracelet.

I have heard you could use the plots that were supplied for the City of Sails, or the limited edition WG/Platinum Royal Oak Chronos, though that would be mean either platinum or WG plots... and translate into a very expensive transition (I was quoted I believe $700 USD per WG plot from the city of sails from AP - Mods please delete this reference to the OEM price of plots if inappropriate), or you can purchase aftermarket plots from a few sources. Some members seem to have had success with this but I was warned that the specifications may not be as exact, and that connection area is machined to pretty minute tolerances. Other than that, you could try to purchase 'standard' plots for the YG or RG 15300 and add those to your SS 15300 but that would change the look of the watch totally.

I think it would be a great option to have OEM SS plots available for my blue-dialed 15300, but at the moment it appears to be simply a dream.

When you say you could try to purchase standard YG or RG 15300 plots, why would this work?
The reason I ask is; The watch I want to fit my rubberstrap on is not only a 15300, but a RG 15300.
Would this by your definition fit a City of sails strap with it's original RG plots?

Also, do you know any of the places you could get aftermarket plots at? (Mods please delete this line if you feel like it)

Hmmm my understanding is that the precious metal 15300s (RG and YG) are already on straps. If that's the case, then the ROC straps should fit without adjustment.
The plots that are included on the precious metal 15300s are already manufactured to connect to a strap (rubber or leather) The problem arises when you have a SS 15300... which has plots that are integral to the bracelet... i.e. there is no way to separate the plots from the bracelet... and that is attached as one piece to the watch itself.

With the precious metal ones you can freely detach the plots.

I'd love to get a PM from someone with information on how to get a rubber strap. Can an AD still get their hands on one?

is that you can use the City of Sails plots.  I assume the dimensions for the ROC (26300) would be the same as the 15300.  That would probably be the most affordable option while using OEM.  I heard also that aftermarket plots may not work well with OEM rubber, though gator could be.  Good luck!

Due to the wildly varying standards of quality and tolerances (5 may be great, 10 just okay, and 25 poor; or one watch enthusiasts "it fits great" is another's "fits like crap") I would really like to avoid discussions about aftermarket parts.

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully done this for their 15300.ST?

I have the 15305.ST (skeleton) and have been researching how to get a leather strap on it.  Having read this thread, I called my AD to place an order for the City of Sails (25979ST.0.0002CA.01) rubber strap (with plots and deployment buckle) and he had no problem ordering it....but mentioned that I'll need to bring it in to the service centre to have it switched as the watch will require 4 different screws ie can't re-use the existing screws on my bracelet.  Can someone please verify if this is indeed the case?  I will also call the service centre to double check but I don't think they will help me do this.  I'm planning to use the plots and deployment buckle and order an ABP leather strap to go with my skeleton.

Mine is a ROC with plot/rubber strap conversion.  Yes, there are 4 new screws specifically for the plots/straps. My AD sent me everything.  It took just a few minutes to do the change myself, and this was my first AP strap change.  Good Luck.

spoke with the service centre and she'll be sending a request to head office to order the parts for converting my 15305 to a leather strap through "official" channels....estimated at US1500 for a new leather strap with deployment buckle.  as expected, she doesn't recommend ordering the city of sails rubber strap and trying a "hack" conversion myself.....wish me luck!
