High-tech materials
Blackened titanium plays the starring role. This ultra-light material has been chosen for the case and the surrounding elements: studs, pushpieces and pushpiece guards, crown and oversized strap buckle. The same goes for the medallion back featuring a special non-slip texture.
Titanium also shows up on the lower part of the octagonal bezel, while its upper part opts for ceramics. The latter is distinguished by clearly marked vertical grooves reminiscent of the characteristic satin finish of the Royal Oak Offshore collection.
The strap is made from vulcanised rubber, an indispensable part of the extreme sports universe. Its matt black granular surface accentuates the adventurous camouflage-type look of this chronograph issued in a limited edition of 1000.
Shapes and ergonomics
Each detail is meticulously designed to ensure a blend of efficiency and lightness. The perforations on the bezel lighten up the structure without compromising its sturdiness. The hollowed pushpieces equipped with a security look ensure user-friendly handling. In a similar vein, the generous size and notched rim of the crown, as well as the ratcheted case edge, facilitate getting a quick and sure grip on this exceptional instrument. The conical shape of the pushpieces guarantees instant activation of the chronograph function, while the skeleton hands, luminescent hour-markers and silver-coloured small seconds counter guarantee optimal readability by day or night. And finally, since nothing is left to chance, a careful observer will note the apertures on the case middle and studs.
The Royal Oak Offshore signature features
- Strongbox-type case water-resistant to 100 metres, with antimagnetic system designed to protect the mechanism from any hostile element
- Hexagonal socket-head screws echoing the legendary hexagonal screws of the Royal Oak Offshore models
- Exclusive “Mega Tapisserie” guilloché pattern on the dial, matched on this model by the chequered motif on the strap
- Strap perfectly integrated with the case
High-precision instrument
The Royal Oak Offshore Survivor houses the exclusive Audemars Piguet self-winding Calibre 3126/3840, guaranteeing sturdiness, reliability and precision rating:
- up to 60 hours’ power reserve thanks to a mainspring which, by supplying constant force over a longer time-span, ensures enhanced rating accuracy ;
- a cross-through balance-cock reinforcing the stability of the movement ;
- a balance-stop mechanism serving to immobilise the seconds hand and thus enabling time-setting to the nearest second;
- a variable-inertia balance equipped with eight inertia-blocks enabling precise and stable adjustment ;
- fast date correction with an integrated security system avoiding any risk of date disc blockage when the adjustment occurs at midnight;
- bidirectional automatic winding of the mainspring by means of a 22-carat gold rotor mounted on a ball-bearing mechanism

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Survivor live wrist shots

what about the price ?
I've heard rumours .... 32K euro that would be 41K usd
In that case .... NUTS !!!
a piece of cheap quartz tat that you can buy from the bay for $100 or less. its the ridiculous pusher guards that do it i think.
sorry ofr the negative comments, but its got to be the worst ROO yet.
Graham
I am an AP fan and have a 'few' pieces although no full size Offshores.
I'm also a critic of the multitude of "Ltd Edns" that the ROO line has produced.
The best ROO so far is the classic Rubber-clad Rose Gold Offshore Chronograph.
But, I actually like this edition. It works as a design and the materials used are in keeping with the concept.
Strange thing subjective likes and dislikes...........
Regards,
MTF
With apologies in advance for the negativity:
That watch is completely lacking in any maturity.
Quasi-military look (oh dear) combined with silly fiddly details like those pusher covers - it's like something from a 12 year old Star Wars fans imagination.
whether i will excuse your aggressive attitude and attempt to belittle my opinion remains to be seen.
as this is your first post you know nothing about me, nothing about my collection and nothing about the way this forum works. if you had read the forums rules then maybe you wouldnt have made this post which contravenes the friendly atmosphere we love so much.
it is your opinion that this is one of the finest timepieces on earth, it is my opinion that it looks like a $100 piece of ebay quartz trash. neither of us are wrong as you cannot be wrong by having an opinion, you can, however, be very wrong for criticising someone elses opinion.
your guess that i could not afford such a fine watch is totally incorrect, i have owned watches that are much more desirable than this, but on this forum it is irrelevant as we do not discuss price and make no definition between a well made watch costing under $1000 or over $100,000.
i dont actually have any quartz watches in my collection, just a large number of rare or interesting pieces.
if you intend to continue posting in this manner can i suggest you do it on another forum as it is not acceptable on this forum.
kind regards
G
Someone got carried away with their new CAD/CAM capability.
I like the "high tech" vulcanised rubber strap.... In this heat, my unvulcanised ones droop alarmingly!
A note to Marketers: Perhaps when this material is applied to straps on more traditional watches, it can be pretentiously titled Gum-Elastica.
As a bonus the caseback doubles as a meat tenderiser.
I plan to convert my chrono pushers to conical asap. I need the instantaneousness!
If you cannot be courteous to members of our community, I will have to ask you to leave our forum. Please watch what you type and please keep it cordial and civil.

There is nothing wrong to disagree with someone else opinion, that is the richness of our forum.
BUT being that agressive and direspectful with one of our ( long time, or not ) members is not something we tolerate.
First and last warning.
Best,
Nicolas
