I stumbled into this non Royal Oak AP and It looks very attractive, I wonder what do you guys think about it , in terms of wear comfort being 43mm ?

Yes, No , Maybe ???
Can this be a daily watch ?
All opinions welcome ...

Thank you ,
Zsolt.

I could try it on, it is a very good watch to consider. The sunrise / sunset is the cherry on the cake. [nt]

Thank you my friend ! Unfortunately I don’t have the option to try it on , I stumbled on it while surfing the net , sans the inquiry...

Hope you have a great weekend !

Ha! I better understand your question, now. Are you ok with watches of such a diameter? It wears a bit less big than the figures suggest... [nt]

I usually keep my dress watches around 38-40mm and the sports watches at max 42mm, so this is an untapped territory for me . But this complication intrigued me . [nt]

It is the granddaddy of base cal. 2121. The only next stepup being a sonnerie or minute repeater. I don’t know why is it 43mm cuz there was...

a smaller version available iirc. It is ultra slim, has curved lugs and a guilloche dial not visible here; has a Brushed finished case and polished bezel. It is quite dressy if your idea of dialy wear leans there.

I’m familiar with the 2121 movement I had it in my Saltarello and I loved it !

My only concern was that for a dress watch is quite large , I imagine dressing it down with a strap change so it can be worn more casual . I saw the 39mm version as well but I didn’t like the engraved bezel , never the less, that would be the ideal size ...
Thank you for your input , and have a great weekend!

Yeh those scaled bezels were a bit ugly. I have consider polishing them off Or discolouring them on several occasions. If you can rock offshores as dailies then this shud be fine too [nt]

Do you live in New York City? That helps.

 By: Tim_M : May 11th, 2019-19:36
The sunset and sunrise complications are localized, but the rest should be fine regardless. As for the fit of the 43mm case, I found it wearable on a 16cm wrist, but anything smaller might be impractical.

Best,
Tim

Thanks Tim for chiming in. Yes, I live in New York that’s one reason for the attraction !😜How do you find the hands legibility? [nt]

Legibility is better in person than the photo, but the contrast remains challenging due to the monotone dial-hand tandem.

This is the kind of watch that you need to view, focus, and then discern; a quick glance will not do. Of course, if you plan to read the perpetual calendar precisely, a still-higher level of effort is required.

I'd compare the contrast of this AP to the post-2017 Rolex Yacht-Master II stainless steel with its WG-on-white hand/dial combo. Better photos of that watch are available online than any imagery you'll find of the AP, so check out a current-spec steel YM2 photo in high resolution as a test-case to determine whether this AP meets your standards of legibility.
Best,
Tim

The EOT does not feel so large and the dial is very easy to read.

The slim profile makes it feel smaller than it sounds. I am a RO Jumbo fan, especially for the size and the EOT does not seem all that large and it feels much smaller than a ROO. See photos below for comparison. The only pain for me is when we have daylight savings time, sunrise and sunset are incorrect.

Thanks Jerry for the input , I’m worming up to it ... there’s so much horology in this model that one can stare at it the whole day ! BTW, nice trio you have there ! [nt]

Easily can be worn daily.

 By: BABKA : May 16th, 2019-03:18
I have one with different complication that I wore daily many times. I just reversed the clasp to make it more comfy.

Thanks, yes the AP clasp is notorious for its discomfort ... [nt]
