AP RO Double Balance Wheel Openworked (15407ST) - Should I pull the trigger?
By: Pretty Boy : December 14th, 2017-10:11
The movement is special with its patented double balance wheel mechanism and the openworked dial is beautifully executed, IMO. The watch is also very rare. So I tend to pull the trigger. But I still have some difficulties in getting used to the look of the openworked dial. Maybe that’s because it’s new to me. What do you think? Best, Volker
I would be exactly where you are. The head says yes (rare, mechanically special, etc) but the heart hesitates (I appreciate the finish, but do I like it??) I usually follow the heart as my experiences with the former tend to create safe queens 😔 [nt]
I love this reference because the openwork dial is made in a modern way and not in a “rococo” (dated for me) style (That’s why I love the GP Laureato Skeleton Ceramic too for instance)

Here, the fact you have a double balance wheel is a true good point too (something rare in the same vein that few Moser for instance and, ultimately, more exclusive than a tourbillon today for me).
In addition, it’s particularly well enhanced thanks to the golden bridge which offers to the owner a nice contrast with the rest of the mouvement and a focus on what’s the most important element for me (well thought out AP).
Even if it’s not the most significant element with this watch (and the openwork dial watches in general), I always think about the legibility. Ok, it’s a work of art but a watch is firstly made to tell you the time and I don’t know if, here, it’s easy for the owner to read the time in all light circumstances. Maybe my only restriction about it.
To summarise, I think I would buy this AP if I could as it’s really cool, nice, modern, technical...
Personally, I need to love looking at the watch or risk is high I would not be wearing the watch. That said, if you think you would get used to skeleton dial... This is a great watch, beautifully executed skeleton movement! Just my 2 öre. Best Blomman
but what would jar to me is the mixture of gold finished and grey finished parts within the movement. If they were all grey or rhodium I would find it much better balanced to look at.
