Good day AP forum! Just picked this AP Diver up, but seller didn't box or papers. My initial thought is it's legit, but wanted to get a second or third opinion. Thank you in advance, I really appreciate it!

AP divers replicas are quite good, but the movement is a dead giveaway.... is a Asian clone of an ETA 2824
The watch looks very good at the first sight
but the movement not anymore that good. At least it's not "the same" 3120 cal. I bought.

Can't believe the rotor is that detailed, at first glance you wouldn't think it's a replica.
I was comparing online photos of a fake RO with clear caseback to a gen, it is amazing how similar they are, I think it is very possible to fool most people. Pretty scary if you ask me...
but on the other hand,
i was thinking, maybe those sellers use pics of "real" watches, after you paid, you still get a cheap clone... What can you do about it??
But the thing is...
That it's actually different movement because the rotation (position of the balance wheel) is different.
What to look for
The engraved rotor is very common in replicas, if you want to spot in a blink a fake movement look at the regulator.... the cal. 3120 has a free sprung balance (like many others high end calibers), something that you will never, ever find in a replica... Another detail the vast majority of replicas have 28.800 vph calibers while AP has a 21.600 vph caliber and the way the second hands sweeps is way different between the two.

Have insurance riders on all my watches. This was my first international trade, so checked with agent making sure if something went wrong I was covered. He said I would be covered under "mysterious disappearance" [nt]

Caveat emptor
A lesson about buying online from people you can't verify. It doesn't help that a certain very large world wide auction and sales website has no interest in preventing fraud as long as they get their commission. I speak from experience. I personally filed four fraud reports on a seller using different names but the same location to sell counterfeit items. No action was taken against them and they are listing new counterfeit goods on a regular basis.
It is better to pay a bit more but get what you paid for.
Heck I even get paranoid buying from AD let alone anonymous online resellers

I have just found it and started reading it. I don't want to get into a "he said vs. he said" situation. I have all of our emails, screen shots from his eBay post, all the boxes, papers, and receipts for the Rolex, and pictures from his AP. I just want my Rolex back, in the same condition I ship it off and I will go about my day.
I'd return this to the person who sent it...
Demand my Rolex back. End of story.

He is sending my Rolex back this weekend where I will take it to the jewelry store where the watch was purchsed in North Carolina to have them make sure everything is ok [nt]

Will take sealed package straight to the AD the Rolex came from along with all the supporting documents and have them check it out. I told the other party, I will even video it, if he wanted.

I can't see this situation occurring with the new divers where you can view the movement.

I find it faintly worrying that the OP managed to remove the back of his Diver and pronounce that his initial thought was "legit" but couldn't differentiate between (at best) an ETA 2824 or (worse) an Asian clone 2824 and an in-house 3120.
Google would have been faster but it wouldn't have left this "paper trail".
