Jaeger-LeCoultre

2007 was an excellent millesime, for Jaeger Lecoultre. They unveiled, this very same year, the Duometre à Chronograph, The Master 8 Days Perpetual Skeleton, the Amvox II DBS, and last but not least, the... Extrem Lab One.

Of course, the two stars were the Duometre and the Extrem Lab one, " feeding " two opposite spectras, tow different schools, but with one point in common: Innovation.

The Extrem Lab One gave birth to an interesting concept, which I wish to more often see, in the future, the Laboratory of Concepts.

Innovative materials, solutions, ideas which will be used in our future tic tacs.

The Extrem Lab One is a sea snake;: Prohibitive costs, very limited production. If 50 were made, this is the end of the world.

A Watch that I see almost each time I go to the Manufacture, as I am very intrigued by it, by its concept.

A Watch which makes me hope that we'll see a III, soon!

I don't understand why it belongs on here.  And I could very well have missed that reason, beyond citing precision.   Don't get me wrong, tourbillons have their place, but without knowing a very good reason for it, I fear it feels forced on what is otherwise an absolutely flagship innovation.

A Tourbillon is, par nature, a fragile element.

Cannot we consider it as a true and demanding challenge, in a sports Watch? Even more in an Extreme Watch?

JLC is proving, here, that they don't fear this fragility in such a Watch.

But, per nature, I do understand your point very well.

not a perfect success, I think Extreme Lab is a very important direction for JLC, I think it has great potential, and this being the first release, this gives it a real significance beyond the tech breakthroughs.

But on that one, its concept Watch character makes me think and consider it differently.

Judging from this year SIHH,with no real new movements,and that of 2007 with two major innovations(Duometre and Extreme Lab) makes me feel pessimistic. Let's wait to see what JLC has in the tube for the following months. Regards Yiannis

Let's wait a bit later this year, and we'll also judge JLC with the 2016 collection.

It is a bit too soon to be pessimistic. Let's first be realistic.
