The watch is back from the service center. However, the presentation was pretty bad. The watch was randomly wrapped up in bubble wrapped and stuffed into a box and that UPS box was simply floating around in a larger box! No polishing cloth nothing! The watch itself was not running. After handling the watch for sometime is sprang to life.
I am not sure why the watch was not moving when i opened the box. If the crown was in the closed position, I should have seen movement, but we'll know better after I wear and test it for a week or so.(question: should it be mailed in a crown pulled or closed position?) I haven't peeled the plastic on the watch. However general inspection with naked eyes show they did not clean nor polish the buckle. I still see spots on it (this was despite re-confirming with them that they'll polish it!).
I am keeping fingers crossed and look at it under a loupe and report further.
These are my initial observations so far. As, for timekeeping (which this thread was about) I will set the watch to the atomic time and observe the gain/loss in 1 week.
Lastly, what is the best practice in starting up a watch from rest? should it be wound with the crown or simply worn?
