"Memovox Automatique" below Jaeger-LeCoultre, and one said only "Memovox" below the marquee.

One version has a (painted?) silver framing around the indexes.

The sliver framing on the indexes are on both dials.
Dean is correct, the differance is the text.
Pics - stolen from the internet...

Are you saying that JLC will not do any more Compressor Memovox?
Or the latEST Compressor Memovox...?!
Please, don't make me nervous!

...only to be even more disappointed when I saw it in the flesh!
I just do not like the window arc for the alarm and the all too short hands.
The Polaris or the Navy SEAL Alarm show how much better symmetric designs are for the same theme.
Retrospectively, the Master Compressor Memovox was JLC's first of the "confused design era", a time when they did not get it quite right (IMHO).
Leafing through the current catalogue shows so many beautiful, classically well designed watches that the "Magali episode" fortunately seems to be a thing of the past.
Nico, I am no JLC expert, just a lover of classic design. There certainly were several interesting and also very nice pieces in that era. Also, a designer does what senior management tells him or her to do. So the fault is never with the designer alone but in the end always with senior management.
Interestingly, perfect designs often get boring quite soon. A captivating design needs that little bit that catches your look for longer. Which in case of the Compressor Memovox may well be the alarm arc!
