I decided that my first watch of 2014 will be a JLC.

I'm doing a small reshuffle on my small stable and I can get one of those.

The big question is what should I pic (only one, of course):

1)  Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea  ref. 2028470

Pros: Iconic, alarm, 40.5mm size, acrylic crystal, vintage look

Cons: I never use any alarm based on a watch. I prefer to trust on my smart phone.

2)  Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph  ref. 207857J

Pros: Vintage look, chronograph, two barrels, power reserve of 65 hours

Cons: "Static" sub dials (only run with the chronograph active)

3)  Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph  ref. 2068570

Pros: Chronograph, two barrels, power reserve of 65 hours

Cons: Not vintage look

4)  Master Hometime Aston Martin  ref. 162847N

Pros: More "dressy", second time zone indicator, 40mm

Cons: Aston Martin reference (I don't own one and I don't plan to own), power reserve.

Please advise.

The reporduction of an icon, and an Alamr Watch ,which, believe me, is much more trustful than your Phone Alarm.

At least, you won't depend of a battery to Wake up!

And it is much sexier than a Cell Phone!

Agreed on the 1,2,3,4.  But ahead of all of them would be the Tribute to Polaris, in platinum, but I'd settle for steel.

Love the DeepSea also..Is Blacpain FF a contender?

If the FF was less than 42mm (my limit).

JLC was very smart to " sink " the date with a black background... A very nice version, but I wouls still prefer the TT DSA...

but that's just my personal preference. I find it to be timeless and hardly boring.

The DSA is a beauty.

The only negative (if I can say that) related to the movement, caliber 956, that has only 45 hours of power reserve, when compared to the chronograph offerings.

Since this will be the main acquisition of 2014, I want to examine all pros and cons before closing any deal.

Today I go to stop over the JLC boutique and compare those "in metal".

Today I went to the JLC boutique and ...

1) Fancy and majestic.

2) The candidates "in metal"

3) Sitting on one of those chairs and ... decisions ... decisions ...

The TT DSA "in metal" Is a very nice piece but I was expecting a little more.

The strap could be nice on any other watch but on this one, despite of being very soft, it looks a mismatch. The pin buckle, yes I pay attention to those items, is completely unbranded. A small disappointment on this matter.

Despite the fact that my wife (the best critic ever for watches -- she could be a very harsh Ppro moderator) approved with high marks but I'm ...

Note: Since on this mall there is an entire corner of some Richemont brands (IWC, Panerai, Van Cleef & Arpels and JLC), I paid a visit to IWC. It didn't help my decision process. Check on HoMe.

I would have to say the TT DSA for me. I love the sometime, but as you say I don't own an Aston Martin, nor do I plan to...so for me that is out. The TT DSA is just a classically beautiful watch and something you will be proud to own now and years down the road I would think. I know it is on my short list.

As for the small pin buckle, it is faithful to the original, which doesn't let  place for the JLC engraving.

But if you are not convinced, you has taken the right decision, which is to not decide anything!

one stupid question re the TT DSA... Jaeger has not sold the initial 959 model yet ?(or re-issue ? but never heard about it)

But you can still find a few at some ADs or Boutiques.

You have to ask yourself which function you prefer. Both are wonderful watches. As for the third - tthatone has nothing to do with Deep Sea IMO.
