Sent it to JLC/Richemont in Texas. While it was done quite quickly, the service charge has caused marital problems (and that's not a joke) and made me rethink whether I ought to own a JLC (the service for my independents appears to be much less expensive).
Here is how it went: without sending it in, they wouldn't tell me what the potential cost would be. However, there was a $150 charge for the estimate if I sent it in and didn't have it serviced with them. So I sent it in, expecting something in the $5-600 range. They came back with an estimate of $1450, of which $150 (that prior charge I mentioned) would be waived. To say I was stunned is an understatement. I paid $3000 for the watch, so the cost of service seemed wildly out of proportion.
In any case, I was stuck (I also can't afford to pay $150 for nothing--they sent the estimate without opening the case or specifying what needed to be done except for routine servicing). I just recently received it back (they didn't inform me they were sending it, and charged my credit card without even a notice that they were doing so). Total cost was $925.
I'm relieved it wasn't more, but $925 is still more than expected originally. I haven't decided whether I'm keeping the watch or moving it on. It's sullied our relationship (and my marriage) in the process.
I hope things go better for you.
Cheers,
Daniel
