You've got to wonder why they don't think it would be better, classier, to have a solid, one piece, engraved back than some tacky (clearly not tacky enough!) faux gold medallian stuck to it.

Keep the cheap stuck on gold seals for the box or the instruction manual cover, JLC!

Good Old Days

Hi,

It just makes me remembering the good old days about the real craftmanship in JLC and in other brands. Now people really want to make thing short cut for time, cost and labour saving.

It is just not only happen in JLC but also other famous brand names as well...

Maybe now there are a lot of new watch brands in the market, and there are a lot of demands about watch and parts makers, in general middle and low end watch quality goes down.

Maybe it is the issue about current watch trend?? Previously the challenge of watch making is towards thinner and smaller movement and fine craftmanship... but now watch tends to be bigger and chunkier so why there is a need to be "so fine"....

Only super-ultra-expensive watches will have fine craftmanship cos they are all made by a "real" watch makers.

I maybe too negative but if you view the general watch industry environment, you may start to worry ......

just my 0.002 cents

What a shame for the brand...

...not that I'm surprised, but it's really disgusting for a brand that likes to play in the top 5 level.

Hey you lousy developers  - how about soldering instead of glueing?!  Or at least a snap design!

Hi, jlc. thomsen. I forward you a message from the JLC customer service.

Are you happy with your watch now?

 By: RicardetCie : February 27th, 2013-02:29
I own the same model & after a basic service the crown @ 4 was twisted...Hopefully the watch was fixed without charge...& came back after 3 months!
A complete service is about £700 witch is 10% of the retail value of this watch.
I love this brand but the service wasn't the best...

Fair enough so far

I'm happy with the fact that JLC customer service has contacted me directly on this issue; they are watching the fans and listening to them which is great news.
However I haven't heard from them since I replied last week, so I can't really tell you if I'm happy with the outcome.

Wonder how this twisted crown could happen? any pics?

I think the price for an overhaul is fair; especially when you compare with brands like AP f.ex. + there is a 24 month guarantee on the overhaul which is quite extensive I think.

This is a good beginning :)

Indeed most of the brands are "watching us"wink & who knows it may improve the service! I  believe that a watch is resalable because of the service after sales...At least JLC is more" in house/ fully integrated manufacture than AP which give better prices ...

Regarding the pic I did not have your -very- good mindset as you took some photos. You see I take a great care of my watches ( 9 in total) & unfortunately I was a bit emotional when I did realise that the crow was very twisted ( I did notice it when I tested the crown). So I went back to the shop straight away...

Still love you JLC, but...

Just to make an end to the story, and it wasn't a happy one. A Guy from technical service called me finally after weeks to explain the problems with the crown loosing the email and the 1000 hour seal that fell off. Just a lot of defensive bad excuses. No goodies, compensations or anything to make up for the flaws that I've experienced with the brand. I had to pay everything up front to get the watch refurbished.

Red card to JLC on something that started well and ended as a bad excuse.

A pity and a shame. Definitely a red card. Agreed, sadly.

Am putting off the purchase of a JLC watch that I have had my eye on. Sigh ....

That doesn't mean that JLC watches are poor quality, though. [nt]
