I have worn this watch perhaps the eighth time today after having acquired it three months ago. Being the work-from-home type, I wear very casual clothes and jeans and those are not proper enough for this timepiece. Today is different. I attended a wedding reception earlier in the evening and grabbed the camera as soon as I arrived back at home. It just so happens that the moonphase disc shows only the stars today with no moon visible at all.
Speaking of watch choices, if I must pick only one watch I own from each of the three brands I love, the outcome would not differ from this:
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph for the more adventurous occasions. JLC Grande Reverso Calendar for those few dressed up occasions. And IWC Portuguese Automatic for the casual moments in between the two extremes.
I am no doubt a happy man. But soon I will have to learn how to spell "enough" as this obsession with watches is keeping me from investing in a couple of income-generating businesses. More money translates to more watches later, years from now, yes?

Two questions:
1. Is it easy to read the time between 5:25 and 7:35 because of the moon phase/day disc?
2. I’m a little bit obsessive with time setting and this watch doesn’t have seconds hand. What do you think about the absence of the seconds hand in this Reverso?

Perhaps these are not the answers you are looking for but I'll try...
1) No, it is almost impossible to tell if it is 5:27 or 5:28. This bothers me a bit but not to the level where I find the inconvenience annoying or anything like that.
2) I thought nothing of the second hand being absent until the first day I wore it. I couldn't tell how accurate my watch was. So when I next visited my AD, I asked their watchmaker to put my watch on that timing machine. The readout was perfect at about +3 seconds per day. I had not thought about the second hand since. As far as time setting is concerned, I think the major inconvenience is when you pick up the watch and you want to set the time but the actual minute is in the range blocked by the moonphase window. In that case, you would have to wait until after the 40th minute of the hour then set your time. But in that regard, my Reverso Grande Sun Moon is more inconvenient as the different displays keep intruding in on the minute chapters.
Whether or not you find the answers above to be a relief, I thank you still for your kind compliment on my watch!

But investment brings more watches still I hope. However, you are right...
...about the pleasure part. I hardly have any photograph of my watches together as I put nearly all my watches at the bank. This trio shot is probably a first for me. I should take more of these I think, just in case I miss my watches in storage.

SIHH 2013 is only a month away. I'm sure there will be models that attract me.
And in any case, I have said yes to a watch two days ago and will collect it from the AD tomorrow. Unfortunately, it is not a JLC this time round. Will find ways to share soon, nearer to Christmas

Very old school dial layout...
Hi ruckdee,
Nice piece you have there. I just thought its a very old school way of dial layout in that Reverso. As with most calendar watches, but this one fits in a rectangular dial. I am thinking without the date indicator and just the moon window, that would be real classic, without the circular dial as well. Just my thoughts
