Considering the Master Moon 39 but...
there are serious competitors. 
I have a passion for JLC that started with my passion for the Reverso.
I own a Master Grande Ultra Thin 40mm in rose gold. Although I really like it and love the minimalism of the dial (almost perfect, I would say), I am keen to go for a bit smaller case for my main dress watch.
Initially, I was considering to upgrade to the Master Moon 39 in rose gold. Even if is is just one mm of difference, the design of the bezel makes the Master Moon appears much smaller on the wrist. The watch is really an eye-candy.
Anyhow, almost in the same budget (consider +5/10%), I tried the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia manual (37mm) and automatic (38,5mm) and I must say that I am fascinated. The finishes of the movement are simply outstanding and I have to admit - even with all my passion for JLC - superior to the finishes of the Master Moon calibre.
And then - another possible candidate at this level - there is the Patek Philippe 5196: Mr. Calatrava....
Of course the Master Moon has date and moon phases which is something that I like but, considering the budget, I have started considering also the Lange and PP alternatives.
I would love to read your opinions and thoughts about these watches.
My golden advice is that we are so close to the 2013 SIHH ...

Hard to wait...
because once they show their novelties, you have to wait other 5/6 months before the new models are actually shipping.
But I can certainly follow your advice. And in the meanwhile I will do some due diligence around these and other models...
At the end the choice phase is one of the most interesting for watches enthusiasts, isn't it?
Keep in mind that next year will be a Jubilé year for JLC.

Actually, this year 2012 was a real Jubile
75 years of the brand Jaeger LeCoultre (Jubiles are multiples of 25 years)
This should have been a real anniversary.
There is quite a difference between the LeCoultre years when LeCoultre was a movement / ebauche maker, and the Jaeger LeCoultre years from 1930 unofficially, then 1937 officially, when the company actually became a watch manufacture, so much closer to what it is today
I don't think I have seen this anniversary / Jubile celebrated (and I think it is more meaningful than a 180 years anniversary).
But then, it seems that the Jubile / 50 years of the Memovox had been forgotten in 2010 too so I guess they don't keep reminders of these dates
So we'll have to wait for 2017 to get another 180th Anniversary. ;) [nt]

Lange Saxonia auto for me.
A friend of mine owns the Master Moon, what gave me the opportunity of having a good and detailed look at it.
It's truly beautiful and the moonphase complication is so nice, but the date indication is really hard to read - almost useless, IMO.

was enamored with the Moon 39, but then tried on the 38.5mm Saxonia in tandem and the JLC felt like a toy watch compared to the quality of the Lange. Trying to source the 38.5 or the Grand Saxonia at at reasonable price right now.
