hi all, my another Memovox just arrived to my home, so happy, just took some fast pics to share with you.

if you guys still remember my previous post, i have another one with the same calibre number in beautiful blue dial. now i put both watches side by side. you can see style of the hour markers of these two watches look very much alike, simply because they came from the close period of years.

i just put it on my wrist and tried the alarm, all are functioning very much, alarm is so loud, the time is very accurate too - really a speed beat watch!

Well, I'm looking for another reference, but which came with a similar case, the Ref E 861 ( Cal 825 ), whose picture is on the Concoerd ad.

This is a strong looking watch, very representative of the 70ies Design.

The GT symbol mlade me often smile, because some sellers believed that GT stands for " Grand Tourisme " when it stands for " Grande Taille "...



Anyway, my friend, your collection is really appealing.

yes, indeed, i like the case shape, really stylish, especially nowadays people like big watches, you will feel outstanding if wearing this old watch to functions.

GT, yes i have learnt that meaning from one of your previous posts. with such "GT" word on the dial and the caseback, it stands nicely!

To me, the 861 'GT' was clearly marketed with the GT 'Grand Tourism' meaning that was fashionable back in the early 1970's

The add clearly suggests this  (although the official meaning of the accronym could have been different. But that is not what buyers back then would have understood by seeing this add)

I hope Aston Martin does not see that!

Funny, I was thinking to make a post about the association we could find between Vintage Cars and Vintage JLCs...

JLC often marketted their watches in relation with cars, like they did for the Parking, this one, the Geomatic, without forgetting that Jaeger made some instruments for cars, like speedometers.

Food for thought.

A not-so-distant cousin from Denmark says hello... I've always found this design to be very characteristic of the 70's. It may not be a beautiful, classic watch - but it sure is special in its look and feel. Best, Claus

looking at the caseback, it also has "GT" marking, but there is no such "GT" printed on the dial?!

by the way, what is the color of the dial of your GT? can't see it very clearly from the screen.

in any case, gold color case is stunning, and also i like the signed "JL" on the dial which my one does not have.

The dial is some sort of brown - I think....Unfortunately, I'm somewhat color blind. But it goes very well with the gold case.
