Just got a Master Moon (140.8.98 S) and I'm very happy with my first JLC and my first dress watch.

A simple question: (Yes, I did a search on this and other forums without getting a clear answer)

How I can obtain a JLC buckle to use on an regular strap? The watch comes with a deployant clasp that is not a good fit for my small wrist.

Easiest I think would be to ask your AD or go for a no name buckle.

Congratulations!  That is a superb piece, and one of my favorite JLCs.  JLC just got this complete calendar with moonphse perfect.  It is an utterly charming watch.  i really like the black dial version in particular.  I have never pulled the trigger ont his one myself, but I have been sorely tempted.

Your photos are really great, too.  I don't think that I ever noticed before that the date pointer has a slight bend in it -- I take it that is so the hand sweeps cleanly over the numerals and indices.  Nice detail!

What I'm enjoying on this watch are the details and the finish.

Those details and the finish makes my other watches feel very coarse except one or two.

As a sheer coincidence, my watchmaker just called.
My second (in fact my real first) JLC was resurrected and passed all tests.

It's a vintage (I believe from 60's) steel Memovox that was with him for months for cleaning and oiling (no other changes!!).

Now the "moon" has some wrist competition.

Go to a JLC Boutique or at your JLC AD, you will find one without problems.

In respect to the buckle, I believe that I need to live with what I got for a while.

There are no AD (that I know) here and the nearest boutique is in ... Florida (just a 8 1/2 hour flight from here!).

I will try to get one during my next trip.

Congratulations on your new JLC & welcome to the club!

I too have a small wrist and the deployant buckle wasn't comfortable at first. Instead of getting a buckle, I commissioned a shorter strap that positioned the deployant buckle in the centre of my wrist. It fits very comfortably now.

Beautiful MM! One of my favourite classic JLCs. In fact I just advised a friend to buy one of these as his first JLC (and second "real" watch) - I thought it to be a safe advise as you simply cannot go wrong with this model IMO. Enjoy yours!

Call one of the boutiques. They should be able to ship one to you. I know that the Beverly Hills boutique usually has them in stock.

And IMO a much nicer watch than the newer Master Calendar is.  This one has perfect proportions in my view.  I have the silver dial version and in fact am wearing it today (on a blue croc strap now though).

I agree with the others who have suggested that a shorter strap will be more comfortable with the single fold deployant.

has a power reserve as well but the dial does not seem clustered because the day and month apertures are spread out to the side.  The purpose of having the apertures on the side is that the chance of the hour and minute hands blocking is much less and it is true.  I got a silver dial Master Calendar recently (will post the pics later), other than the apertures, I don't see much difference, the more obvious diff is the MC is slightly larger and the month and day have black fonts. 

The black dial is Master Moon is quite interesting, first time I ever saw one.

a month ago, at the time of buying my first Memovox, the seller was also selling this master moon in black dial. i was so tempted to get this one too, but did not do that because of limited fund at that time.

is it true that this watch using 22k pink gold for the rotor segment? in the back case i look that rotor in pink colour with 22c engraved.
