Hi everyone, Just a quick query for EWC owners out there: Are your chrono second hands straight or bent? The reason why I'm asking is because my EWC had a bent second hand when I first bought it. It developed power reserve issues in Dec 06 so I sent it in. It was returned May 07 but the second hand is straight and shorter. I think it looks a little odd compared to the bent ones. I know this is a trivial issue but I just wanted to find out if EWCs sold recently all came with straight hands or if the bent section from mine break off during servicing. Thanks.
on many press pics the chrono hand is kinked at the end, and on all the watches that i saw at the AD (including the one i had for a couple of weeks) the hand was straigt.... speaking of these differences: in the catalogue the hand istn bent, but has a RED TIP. Never saw this on a production EWC.
Pitty though, kinked or red tip would look more interesting than just regular.
Very interesting! Mine is a serial # 7XX , and has a bent tip on the second hand. Mine arrived in the US March '06. I looked through past postings and did see that the Rossi Edition EWC has a shorter second hand without the curved tip. I believe that this is the first time that this difference has been noticed or discussed.
The following pic were pulled from other postings (Jace and Rockn'Rolex) but show the difference.
Mine was a serial #03XX bought in Singapore in Feb 06.
After reading your posts, it appears that the newer pieces come without the kink.
I am speculating here but there are two possibilities how my EWC lost its kink:
1. They swapped the movement during the service to address the power reserve issue. They probably polished the case because the case came back without a scratch.
2. They took my old caseback and put it on a new case and movement. I remember the piece came back looking brand new although it had the same serial number.
I agree that the kink looks more interesting, red tip or not but I am curious why it was changed.
