Reference E 855 Discussion: What is your preference in date windows?
I'm fond of both the early-silver dials and the later ones with an enclosed track for the minute demarcations. Off the top of my head, I believe the earlier ones are seen until circa 1965. In my opinion, the later ones are some of the most attractive date windows in the Memovox line. A bit thicker framing and more of a descending angle.
If we're going off of date windows, which are you more drawn to?
My preference would be the former date window
simple, crisp, and well balanced proportions
It seems there is a unison and I am also of the same mind.
Even though the latter looks better by itself, it does eat the minute track like our dear Nico and jml watches already stated, and also it is not in unison and harmony with the whole watch, so my choice would be the former, very balanced and good looking
Here is a counter example, from a E 855 black ( late 60's ).
No date window eating the minutes track.
