but since I didn't speak with the watchmaker directly, the sales rep only gave me a roundabout answer saying how it could have been due to a number of different reasons.... Case fitment, wear-and-tear items, and such. I guess I could call the service center itself in Dallas to ask the same question again....

I know you wanted it back badly, which is fully understandable. Wear it with pride and in good health! By the way, I remember from the lunch table at the Manufacture last year that you were interested in a new clasp (PVD issue)... did you order one on that recent occasion?
I actually decided not to for the time being, but I'm confident I'll do so once the current strap is worn completely, I'll just end up getting a totally new strap together with a new clasp.... This clasp is, as you were able to see, scratched-up, but it doesn't look terrible....
