My experience with this model has been that it surpasses expectations. Judging solely from the frontal online images and press copy, this seemed like an insipid addition of a tourbillon where none belonged... and then I had a chance to spend some time with the model, and my view changed.
The in-person detail of the engraved, lacquered, and -- critically -- convex projection dial is exquisite. Its concave world time ring complements the domed globe. An orbital flying tourbillon is special, but it's another quality of the watch that doesn't translate in static imagery. Finally, the substantial mass of the case is a sensory experience lost on the web.
Ultimately, my experience with the watch transformed my view from cynic to fan. The concept itself, which was to add a tourbillon to the Geophysic Universal Time, was rote. But the execution is enchanting, and the creative team salvaged a wonderful watch from the management's artless design brief.
Best,
Tim
