Acquiring a watch from my birth year 1958.
I do already own this Omega Seamaster allegedly from 1958, but now on reflection & with initial lack of knowledge, I am now not quite sure how genuine it is!!!!

I have a fairly small budget for this project and the only additional complication I would like is the date.
Having carried out research on the usual websites, Omega feature quite frequently.
Could members please give their thoughts on what is out there, what they have got and of course photos are very much welcome.

The dial of your Omega is almost certainly refinished . . .
. . . and the crown looks to be a replacement, as do the hands. Below are images of a friend's '59 Seamaster with the same movement as yours, before restoration by Omega . . .

. . . and after. The hands, crown, and crystal have been replaced, but the dial was not touched.
No '58s with date in my collection, Tony, but I'm sure there are a few folks out there with Seamaster or Constellation Calendars. I've two, from '56 and '60, but neither are quite like '58s.
A genuine '58 Seamaster Calendar would be fitted with a cal 502 (less commonly) or cal 503, while a Constellation would come with a cal 504. A Constellation Calendar with either a cal 502 or 503 would necessarily be a 'put-together'. These models are fairly common, and easily sourced. Good luck in your search, and don't hesitate to check in with the resident experts on the Omega forum before pulling the trigger.

Omega is always an option ...
They have the "extract from the archives" that is very reliable and will assure you that you got the correct year.
Of course, there are other brands (JLC etc.) but I don't know how reliable are their dating process.

You have many watches which are very interesting from 1958!
Two watches could be interesting to own, in a much smaller budget than those mentionned above.
JLC E 329: Even if its production started in 1957, but it was in the JLC 1958 Catalog.
JLC Memovox Parking:

But, I guess the Geo doesn't conunt as smaller budget watch...

TC, we are in the same hunt...
The Geophysic is right up there (and has the advantage of being a chronometre movement). Of course, Rolex can fit almost any year: unfortunately, the Rolex from 1958 has taken on something of an aura.
