In retrospect, Mr. Hayek can be seen as a man who helped save ane remake the high-end watch industry of today. He was the architect of today's prosperity and it is he who is responsible for the continuing existence of many of the finest names in the industry today. Each time I get satisfaction and joy from looking a my wrist and each time I think about this obsession, I have him to thank. I bid you adieu, Mr. Hayek.

Certainly Mr Hayek was one of the titans of the post quartz era. His non-watchmaking and Lebanese background added to the allure of his personality which comes through in bounds in all the interviews I've read. His legacy is remarkable.

when the heart stops clocking...
Most of us can probably be thankful to the man. It is probably thanks to his energy and passion that we can continue to enjoy nice mechanical Swiss made watches today!...Unfortunately, the body is like a mechanical movement and the heart in particular, sometimes it fails and can be fixed, sometimes the damages are fatal. We can only think that he left while doing what he prefered doing...for sure the small horological world lost one of its greatest characters. Matt

his legacy will speak for many many years after him
just to name few bright examples - Breguet, Blancpain, J*D, ETA etc.
I'm shocked and sad but unfortunately all things comes to an end
including our lifetime.
I'll never forget the first time I saw Mr Hayek and his legendary
wrists with 3-4 timepieces on every one of them.
I was so glad to see this ...it was so cool , unique and geniune
that I'll always remember him not only as person who helped
tremendously to "save" mechanical watch industry but also as
warm visionary genius of watch business.
I can only imagine how difficult this must be for his family

A Visionary is No Longer With Us!
