Photo report of July 31st New York Get-Together at the Grand Havana Room
On the last day of July, a group of New York based Purists / Watch lovers congregated at the Grand Havana Room for a night of cocktails, aromatic cigar puffing, fine dining, and all around camaraderie among old and new friends.
The Grand Havana Room, situated at the prime location of 5th avenue and overlooking some of the most magnificent architectures in midtown, is a private club and one of the few remaining spots left in Manhattan where one can still smoke a cigar indoors. It is also the home base of the recently founded New York Sky Moon Watch Enthusiast Club.
At around 7pm, people started arriving, cocktails were served along with lively conversations. Dinner ensured at around 8:30pm.
Along with fellow watch lovers, we've had the honor of having the independent master watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva with us. Stepan, Finnish by origin, has done his tour of duty at Piaget, Parmigiani, Vianney Halter and Christophe Claret. He started his own company in 2003 in Helsinki, and has produced several pieces of very interesting designs. One of the most well-known is the Korona 3, also known as the "Angry Moon"=) He brought some of his works with him tonight.
Without further ado, here are the pictures! (I apologize for not taking more pictures as the Club has a no-photo rule. But I sneaked a few photos anyways)

The Table Shot: We've had the honor of seeing some very interesting pieces tonight, including a Platinum GO PanoMaticChrono, a Graham Split-second Foudroyante, an IWC Split-minute Aquatimer Chrono, a vintage ladies Patek, and a Vintage Breguet Pocket watch that looks just like La Tradition, just to name a few.
Thanks everyone for coming out! I've had a blast and I hope everyone else did as well. Until next time...
Yours truly,
Z3 (Jon)
I'll do it, without doubt.
The question is when, as I have to find some time to do it.
But be sure that when I find this time, I will contact you all, the NY gang...
LOL
Best.
Nicolas
Jon,
Ahhh Habana....the sultry sway of palms in the balmy breeze......the languid aromatic smoke fills your shots.
Quick! - put out those Cuban women and put some more ice on the fire.
Thanks for the sneaky shots - I hope you get away with it........
Regards,
MTF

And another thanks for organizing this NY PuristS gathering, and a thanks to Jason and Tony for the venue selection.
Whose 2 Panerai's are those? You don't see that dual pair PAM235 and PAM273 together that often!
Cheers,
Anthony
Very cool to have 2 PAM266's in one gtg along with the steel version PAM268. The PAM266 has the very rare combination of blue dial with RG case for Panerai, and looking forward to your review
Cheers,
Anthony
