Exclusive photos of the highly anticipated Sinn U1 All Black for TEMPUS 2007!

 By: SJX : August 27th, 2007-10:15
As discussed before on this forum, Sinn will issue a limited edition of 250 Tegiment U1 watches for The Hour Glass, in conjunction with the TEMPUS - Temple of Time event to be held from Sep 5 - 9 here in Singapore.
I am pleased to present exclusive photos of the first Sinn U1 All Black. Many thanks to the lucky owner, Harry Tan, for allowing me to photograph the watch. Harry will soon post his own masterful photos of the watch; my quick and dirty shots are just a preview.
The All Black U1 looks far, far better than any of the pre-production mock-ups suggest. It is an utterly striking watch in the metal and far more attractive than the already handsome, regular U1. Sinn and The Hour Glass have a winner on their hands with this watch. I am looking forward to receiving my U1, hopefully soon!
Apologies for the fingerprints and dust on the watch, I was so caught in the moment that I forgot to clean it.

Thanks JX for the photos...pretty good though! More real with finger prints :-)..

Congrats Harry on the new piece!

Are the hands metal?  The date window seems a bit too small for the date, or is it parallax ?

Thanks Kong

Yes they are and the window is small but large enough for two digits to be seen. Its the angle that seems to make it look too small. Check out my montage to see it clearer.

Thanks SJX. I am enjoying my U1 very much this summer

I called early in June and tried to place an order for the Tempus model and the person in the store was willing to take the order but never sent the wire details.  I lost track after that.

Nice to see it in the flesh (cyberflesh that is).

I hope and trust it will become a production model soon.

Thanks SJX......

I've been looking forward to the 'real' shots (with fingerprints too..!!) for ages.  Looks impressive.
Thank you.

But but...

I wanna see Harry in camos wielding a large serrated dagger with soot streaks under his eyes...

I think you meant in dry suits and rebreather apparatus...

with marine waterproof automatic pistols and semi-autos with the state of the art night vision cum underwater mask. ;-)

But seriously - I would look stupid in any military gear. LOL

Finally! Some pics of the Black U1

 By: kglaw : August 27th, 2007-20:50
Looks fantastic!  I have been waiting impatiently for the pics of this Tempus Black U1 and it does not dissappoint.  I do hope they will have some on display during Tempus.  The black, white and orange colors really pop up and look superb on the dial and bezel.  I wonder if the deployant is also made of the same Black Tegimented metal as the case?

The buckle

 By: SJX : August 28th, 2007-00:07
I am unsure if it is Tegiment also, but I suspect it is.
Will post here once I know for sure.

Just got confirmation that the deployant is just plain PVD so it will scratch and flake

 By: HarryTan : August 28th, 2007-09:30
most unfortunately.

. . . which is evident in your photos, Harry, as the deployant . . .

 By: Dr No : August 28th, 2007-22:09
. . . appears a bit scuffed when compared to the case.   Regards, Art

Wish the deployant was also Tegimented

 By: kglaw : August 28th, 2007-23:10

I would have wished for the deployant to be tegimented as well.  Thanks for confirming this Harry.  Still a very stunning piece.  Hope to get mine during Tempus.

I was thinking that everything is orange instead of just the hands

Now to find a nice strap that goes with it ;-)

Once you have tried the rubber it is hard to go back

 By: Bill : August 27th, 2007-21:15
Having said that a nice - thick - black - calf strap with orange stitching would be sooooo cool.

I am sure someone has the strap already to go.

sweet watch in any color....

A leather strap with orange stitching

I already have a strap ready for it, same strap as
the one on the Glycine. :-)

Why not a velcro with orange stitching....

 By: Jokoh : August 28th, 2007-01:35
I think that would be cool too...hehe ;-)

Very nice strap SJX

 By: Bill : August 28th, 2007-17:08
You are well on your way to becoming a strap addict as well as a watch addict.

Good luck.  It is a hard habit to kick.

A striking watch, congratulations Harry

As I may have said before - if only I could bring myself to like the hands ...

Thanks Dirk. Find me at Tempus and try it out for size! [nt]

I most certainly will, Harry - you can run but you can't hide ...

 By: Dirk : August 29th, 2007-19:29

See you soon, Dirk

Thanks SJX.. looks like a sure winner...

 By: edheng : August 27th, 2007-21:32

Thanks JSX for sharing.

 By: jimsbk : August 27th, 2007-23:34
Harry congratulations for the being first to own it. Look lovely from the pics and I too wished the numbers are in colours instead of white. Looking forward to having it on my wrist soon. Cheers Jim

Thanks Jim - its nice to be first but I wanted it early to photograph for...

NB: The edition is officially sold out

 By: SJX : August 28th, 2007-00:37
Statement from The Hour Glass, "though we are clearly delighted by the interest this The Hour Glass Edition has received, the 250 pieces produced are already spoken for and that we have no more left to sell."
