




1. Automatic or manual movement: manual in theory but for diving watches automatic is a safer and more convenient choice, with maybe the exception of luminors with their crown lever which makes winding less of a chore. Give me an automatic over a manual with no mechanical feel, however. Interestingly the opposite of cars where there are still mediocre automatic transmissions on the market. Nothing drives me as crazy as a subpar slushbox.
2. Date or no-date: I grew up with a day-date SKX but I have slowly drifted to the no-date camp, dwindling eyesight aiding.
3. Strap or bracelet: I have a well documented lovestory with sharkmesh or rubber for diving. In the case of a bracelet, it has to balance the watch head perfectly, think vintage seamaster or 36mm 2500 railmaster.
