Every time I read about these I wonder (assuming they were stolen from his house), did he have an alarm system? Did he have a guard dog? Did he have a burglar proof safe?(no safe is completely burglar proof), but I wonder what protections were in place to prevent what happened. This is awful.
Of course it’s never your fault when someone breaks into your home but yes…and I know what you’re saying about safe deposit boxes…a little known fact banks are NOT responsible for thefts…all my pieces are individually insured (I actually checked before I leave for Cannes about coverage) and I keep anything of value stored with reproductions only in the house. Jenson Button and his guests were knocked out with gas in their villa and everything stolen… there are people out there working 24 hours a day making crime their profession.
they wouldn’t have left such an obvious mess…I would have wanted to get as much as possible as quickly as possible and leave the place tidy without drawing a lot of attention…🤔🥸🥷🏻
of insurance and security definitely factor into how many pieces I own and how much I pay for them… Also, one of the reasons I prefer to buy new.. otherwise you’re haggling with an insurance company about what a vintage piece might be worth.
Yes, I get your point with your hidden place, but believe me, if you are victim of a home jacking, you will give anything you have. A good gun, they shoot your dog or threaten your family, you give them everything you have.

I am a criminal lawyer, and believe me, I saw things most of " normal " people cannot even imagine...
