Rekindling my love for Nomos with the Tangente
Nomos Glashutte is one of the earliest German watch brand that I know and appreciate when I got into the hobby of watch collecting. Their distinctive (and attractive) Bauhaus designs and in-house movements are something which really appeals to me. I can even say that Nomos is the brand that led me into the rabbit hole of German fine watchmaking.
Even in today’s climate, I feel that their watches are some of the best value for money you can get.
Therefore I am glad to add my first Tangente, which to me is the iconic Nomos. This particular variant here is the NOMOS Tangente Gangreserve Anthrazit Ref. 173 which was released back in 2006. I have been passively looking for this one for awhile as I really like the monochromatic look and the power reserve indicator. It is a stroke of good luck that I managed to find and acquire one in full NOS set.

Honestly, it's a great watch for the price!
But here's the funny thing. Consumers don't want a "good" watch at a "fair" price. They want an "excellent" watch at an "inflated" price. Preferably a recognizable one too! This Nomos is a great watch at a very fair price. They just came out with some Club Sport models on bracelets too, those are going to be fantastic!

Sadly that’s the mentality of most consumers nowadays. And I guess the “recognizable” aspect of the watch is an important criteria for many nowadays.
Yes this particular Nomos comes at a very fair price and most of the other Nomos too. The new Club sports on bracelet looks very good, definitely need to check them out in person soon.

Congrats on a beautiful acquisition! Even within today's huge (and ever-increasing!) watch offering, Nomos remains a peculiar brand delivering an unmistakable design at a great price point! ;-) Enjoy.

This is such a beautiful design! I’ve never owned a Nomos before and hope that I will eventually find one of these gangreserve ref 173 models (I’ve gone down the rabbit hole trying to find posts about this model, which is what led me to watchprosite for the very first time today and to your post!)
