Can't decide between the 2, the Kyoto is austere but the Gilt has more legibility....

I've had that problem before. I got both!
Not advocating you do that. But it's a solution! The Kyoto is definitely very easy for me to like. And the Gilt has a lot of personality! Can't go wrong with either!
It will be interesting to see how well this does.
I like MING but I suspect in the past, some of their success and “buzz” has been because the watches were so limited.

This one, I think they're hoping to expand their reach...
2000 units, that's a lot of watches. They're trying to go more mainstream. They're not trying to be a tiny micro-brand with thing 50 watch drops that creates more disappointed clients than happy clients (the 50 watch drop I heard about was supposedly was wanted by over 200 people)!
Well, the 300 for the current owners sold out this morning. So a successful start for this one.
I kinda like the Kyoto, but more so that I like the idea of the green more so than the execution. In the press photos however the Gilt seems more cohesive. Hard to know what I would prefer in the metal.
