When you think of Omega, most of you would think of Speedmaster and Seamaster, the Omega's best seller sport watches, just like a Submariner and Datejust are Rolex's best known and best seller. But for 2-watch collection which should cover all situations, Speedmaster and Seamaster are tool watch in nature, none of them can be considered “beautiful dress or casual” watch.

Enter the Seamaster and Globemaster. The seamaster is Omega’s equivalent of Rolex’s submariner. Rugged, robust, plenty of WR, that can take anything you throw at. The seamaster is even more interesting than Sub IMO, because of more complex case, beautiful alternating polished and brushed finish. This particular model is Commander Watch, to salute Bond's as UK navy commander. It is a very handsome combination colour of white, blue and red. Ceramic dial with contrasting blue hands and markers are very legible. Liquidmetal bezel. Caliber 2507 , while is older movement, is thinner than new caliber 8xxx, result in quite thin diver. Things i like : sexy lyre lugs, fine details like polished bevel under the flank, short lugs. Things i don't like : scallop bezel is difficult to grasp and turn. The coin edge bezel on planet ocean and rolex sub is much easier to use. And the bracelet that is a bit too flashy and doesn’t taper at all. Here is with blue Zealande rubber.

What about Globemaster? Honestly this model is confusing. Is it a dress watch? With 100 mtr WR and angular case, anti magnetic up to 15,000 Gauss, maybe not so. Is it a sport watch? With no screw down crown and fluted bezel, definitely not. Omega itself does not have clear category for it. But it is really beautiful with brushed case, angular lugs with sharp polished bevel, pie pan dial with lots of lume.

For me, The globemaster is a dressy watch with many benefits : plenty of WR so i don’t have to worry when i wash my hands, caught in the heavy rain, even accidentally fall into swimming pool. It almost like a datejust’s equivalent. The caveat : it look good only on straps.
So, yes, these qualify for a perfect 2-Omega watches collection. Much like the Part 2, only if you are Omega die hard, not looking for any other brands.
