It seems like an antiquated idea. With phones and tablets and computers the date doesn't seem so difficult. Definitely runs the piece.

We can keep going but is there anyone out there who doesn't have at least one of the above? 😉

I was always surprised, when I talked to several Marketing Teams, to see they were strongly convinced to be correct with those statements.
On the other hand
Looking at the full range of this model they do offer a no-date small seconds version of this watch...albeit smaller (26.10 x 42)...and quartz... (pic from Longienes.com)
The date window on this Longines isn't so bad. It respects symmetry, which is the dial's main proposition. By contrast, here below is a ruinously poor example from my collection.
