I have always liked, and owned "smaller" watches. 36mm is more than fine with me,
biggest one I have is a Rolex Submariner, that's about as big as I personally care to get.
I've see watches on guys that make me just shake my head and roll my eyes over the size.
I have a vintage Hamilton that is probably 33mm, I'd strap it on and wear it out the door in a heartbeat,
if it ran, it needs to be serviced.

Why would someone's preference cause you to roll your eyes?
Yes, you get huge tacky modern ‘look at me’ watches, but there are also larger watches that are large for a reason. Personally, the IWC Big Pilot is one of my favorite watches of all time, but my daily wear is a 38mm dress watch, and I regularly wear a 34mm Omega. Fair enough if you like smaller watches, but it’s a bit odd to judge others for not sharing your preference.
Of course. I don't think the OP meant to be provocative or uninformed in this specific thread, but it should go without saying that preferences when it comes to size are a very, very subjective matter.
I, for one, appreciate (cute) watches regardless of size, but have a general preference for larger ones. Obviously, much of the current offering (in fact, for at least the past 12 to 15 years now) tends to be very generous in diameter, and in my personal view many of these pieces are just too spectacular not to be appreciated. I would say that 38 to 40mm is normally OK, but good exceptions are always welcome ;-) Cheers.
Yes you’ve a valid point. I feel certain watches are bigger due to the function they ought to perform with that size. They are good. But other normal watches, that are oversized due to fashion, look weird to me. Just my 2 cents... [nt]

I wear the 3796 and 3923. The size is perfect. Never been a fan of the pocket watch on the wrist syndrome.
Size matters not...
There's really no accounting for taste, good or bad, big watch or small watch. It is all very subjective in regards to watch size. I too am a big fan of the IWC big Pilot range, especially the 5002 release. However I guess i'll draw the line with the PAM 341 
Small watches are lovely.
But so are big watches, on the right wrist, and carried by the right personality.
