1) I dont really intend "into watches".. i was in a shopping mall and i walked past a store and it had a FM Crazy Hours big poster then i thought it was interesting.. then i did a search online for watch forum.. and ThePuristS pop up and i also found Timezone and now i am struck.. and i think back then there was no FM forum.. unless i recalled wrongly.. 2) i dont know what is my grail watch but i remembered when i was young.. and FP Journe watches were very hot in forum (Felipe Mod i think.. he is in TZ now..) though now is still hot.. and so i walked into a AD and took a look at the model i admired most.. fp journe resonance yellow dial brass movement i think.. and it left a very deep impression.. it was such a beauty.. and so it was my grail watch at that time.. 3) i dont know about my favourite brand.. but for favourite watchmaker.. it got to be Roger Smith.. because of some reasons.. : ) Thank you Bounce781 : )

No disrespect.. but when i found out TP and TZ.. then FM crazy hours(i think debut in 2002.. cant remember..) doesnt look very interesting compared to the hot models at that point of time (still classic and popular now).. example simplicity, dato and resonance and many more.. and the only FM i like is related to a member called Lord Arran.. not only his watch.. he is a nice member too.. of course watches without batt are interesting to me because i was young then..

Maybe i just like to write about watches and life.. and the way i wrote were something different from others.. my unique style i guess.. Thank you Spangles : )

Most of the time when i cant sleep or i sleep late.. then you will see me posting in US hours.. Sometimes i post in evening of my country time and sometimes day time for example my lesson 2.. unless i recalled wrongly.. i dont have a fixed time.. its all about the feel.. Thank you Baron : )

.....in the 12-13 years that you have been a member of this forum, what other members have you met at GTGs? Always interesting to see what other collectors one has met.....

I have several different theories regarding your motivation for asking that question.

This thread is set up because i cant sleep that night.. yesterday didnt reply because i managed to sleep.. Baron.. old members.. not in contact anymore.. i was active with them for 1 - 2 years thats all.. maybe they forgotten me by now.. and its many years ago.. now.. i havent seen them during the 5 events i attended this year including rolex.. in the old days.. i dont think its called GTGs.. maybe its called a brand event or something.. cant remember.. or meet up with independent watchmaker.. like Habring.. nice guy just starting out.. and old members.. i met a few.. Bernard.. Harry.. Jaw.. and i didnt type wrongly.. his name is really Jaw.. and some more.. Also i met some ex-purists in rolex event and phillips auction preview this year too.. had a short chat with michael.. who is MD of thehourglass.. and also peter who is ex-mod of lange.. we didnt talked before in the past.. only that night when i asked him where is the rest.. For recent months.. GLau new mod.. came to singapore.. and i went to this GTG because he asked me to join .. and from there i met Stefan who is also a mod here.. i met Stefan twice in all.. i was late to this gtg.. but we had a nice gathering with some local members of this forum.. though most dont participate much anymore.. most are not active anymore.. they were surprised when i said my time was Jaw era.. i remembered.. a young guy who shook my hand during this gtg.. and i intro myself as Yang.. then after a while.. he asked me if i am Teacher Yang in forum.. and i said yes.. then he shook my hand again.. saying he read what i wrote in forum.. and i thought he was a very polite guy.. he made my day.. i didnt leave my contact with them as they can find me here.. this is my answer baron..

I've always been curious about this from the perspective of more experienced people in the community!

For example.. when i see a Chopard L.U.C 1860 in 1.96 caliber.. i think of dufour.. parmigiani.. geneva seal.. walt odets.. patek.. price of this chopard watch vs other watches in the market.. chopard history.. and more.. And its because you can tell others many stories about this one watch.. it add a lot of value to this watch.. When i want to buy a watch.. i will look at many things/factors too.. is it really something i want.. or am i just a sheep.. have i try the watch for some time.. and the service cost in the future.. and more.. But i can tell you.. most of the time.. at least in my era for those who like watches.. their most valuable watch is a simple watch.. doesnt mean a lot to others in terms of value.. but to them its one of their most important watches for sure.. unless they are lucky to have family members or close ones to give them tourbillion or repeaters.. : ) Thank you Rbeebe : )

I been through this horology world long enough to know that there are only two things.. sadly.. one is money.. and another is ego.. you can get real friendship.. but its rare.. not everyone will give a simple friendship watch to another watch friend.. not many real friendship around.. at least in my country.. if you got a few.. you are blessed and lucky.. i saw many who broke up after years together in gtg and attending events together.. i know people who collect watches for many years.. some said during 1990s.. some said 1980s.. and so on.. but in the end.. they dont really understand what is a watch.. therefore it caused a lot of unhappiness.. a watch means nothing unless there is a meaning behind it..
