Surprisingly light and sturdy. I expected it to be very fragile feeling. Sadly a bit beyond budget....

Absolutely love MB&F. But I find the only wearable ones are the HM2, LM1, and possibly the HM5's. Even the relatively conservative HM2 is hard to pull off unless you have upwards of 8" wrists. I have not seen a wrist that the HM4 looks good on. I am thinking that possibly in order to wear well, the HM4 should be set on a special fingerless glove extension.
So, my question is, I know you said it was a grail, but slightly out of your price range, but in reality, when push came to shove, would you get one?

I think the HM4 is an incredible piece; completely impractical and completely insane. Which is what makes it unique, I have never seen a watch that has captured my imagination as much as the HM4. I guess its just like the Pagani Zonda or Mercedes 300SL, it instantly transfers you to be some thing you always wanted to be when you were a kid. For me the HM4 makes me feel like a Star Wars bounty hunter, the Rolex Daytona makes me feel like a race car driver, the JLC Reverso a Victorian explorer. Its that imaginary aspect that makes me love wearing watches! I won't buy a watch if it doesn't make me imagine 
I dont think I'd be able to pull it off like Max Brusser does, but if push came to shove and Warren Buffett made me the sole beneficiary in his will... Yes I'd get it

For my mid-life crisis I was hesitating between a sports car and that watch... and in the end I got the watch! Much more practical than the car if you live in a big city. More fun and original, too.

I have similar problems
I have a lot of trouble explaining to family and friends that my watches are a good idea, as opposed to buying say a horse or a car.. People just don't understand our sensibilities
