But my recollection (supported by my playing just now of a bunch of YouTube videos of that watch) is that the sound is more percussive in nature, with some higher-level overtones that are not entirely pleasing to the ear. To me, Kari's piece has a more classic hollow chiming sound.
That said, neither of the watches (to me) hit the proper interval between the high and low notes -- in both cases the interval seems too narrow to me. PSM's new tourby repeater, also posted by Allen, has what I consider to be the "right" interval. Peter's piece is also king-hell loud! Now that I'm listening to more and more repeaters (and have the privilege to own a single one myself) I'm understanding the variations in tonal style more and more -- and coming to appreciate the somewhat softer but resonant style just as much as the "big" style of more recent watches.
And, as has been stated a zillion times, with repeaters it often comes down to the individual example you are listenting to -- at the PP boutique recently, we heard two watches chime -- one had the voice of angels, and the other was almost tinny (in fairness, it was a prototype, so nothing against PP!).
Would be interested to hear others' views.
Best,
