So here it is! The new Kari Voutilainen inhouse manufacture movement called the 28 (the watch is the Twenty 8) as the work on the caliber started in 2008.

The esapement I was not to talk about is in fact a new direct impulse system with two escapement wheels: this system allows for better accuracy and can even do without lubrification (but Kari still uses oils here).

Another lovely looking watch from Kari, and a new escapement as well.

I'm immediately wondering just how these two escape wheels are driven - -the details are hidden below the plate under the balance.

At first glance it looks a somewhat like the independent double escape wheel setup used by Daniels in some of his earlier watches, but he used a separate train to drive each escape wheel, whereas this movement only uses a single train.

Intriguing.

IMHO, this is the most attractive of all the dials that KH has produced so far.

Would love to hear the theory/execution behind the new escapement, along with technical details and expected advantages over a Swiss lever.

The dial Can be made to your specifications with different patterns and numerals, as he has a guy doing the engine turning of the dial - hope this helps

I'm just responding to this particular watch......
I'm looking forward to see his other dial (darker colored versions) and also I somehow prefer the numerals on the Observatoire.
However, I think this is quite a magical piece.
My only concern is still the size which I'm eagerly wanting to try this on my wrist.

Prefer the numerals on the Observatoire but love the guilloche on this. Without the double rings the dial look cleaner and more elegant to me (not that the dial on the Observatoire is any less stunning).

the dial work is amazing, the movement i cannot understand..yet, but looks as well finished as one can expect.

will these watches be chronomtery tested?

A beautiful dial and case to my old fashioned taste with modern horological advancement in a size I might actually be able to wear.
