Just arrived today (preowned but virtually new), over the moon with first impressions. Have been learning about Bovet and increasingly obsessed over the last few months and feel so fortunate to now have one in the collection.
…the name 19thirty even alludes to a time when Bovet was at the end of its pocket watch era. The watch is meant to recall these pocket watches both with the crown placement but also the case shape and the dials/fonts.
Obviously have been wearing this almost nonstop, so thought I’d share a few additional thoughts. First, the watch can be positioned nicely as a desk clock under your computer monitor even though it doesn’t have the Amadeo system of other bovet’s. It has to do with the unique lug to strap mechanics, which have more resistance than typical spring bars. I will confirm there is the most minimal feeling of the top strap/crown apparatus on the wrist, I won’t say I feel nothing, but it is very minimal and worth the visual interest it creates. Lastly, there are few reviews of these watches, but one prominent website’s said the 19thirty has a long and uninteresting wind, and I would disagree, the wind feel is very tactile and high quality, although the crown is small and so a little challenging to get purchase on. Overall I love under the radar, high quality, unique timepieces and I’ve gotten this all in spades with this Bovet.
