With today's wonderful weather here at my home, I would be wearing white pants too! So, no worries, this rule is no longer closely followed! But you could bust out an orange strap for fall!

VC doesn’t make all the strap colors for this reference but they do have orange.
Yes VC does have a nice orange! And there's an aftermarket strap maker that makes straps compatible with the Overseas.
The "Delugs" rubber strap is $325.00 USD plus tax and shipping. I think that's a fortune for a rubber strap! Yes, it is a proprietary attachment system, but goodness that's expensive. They have orange and a popular one is Baby Blue.
Do they have this same rule in France?
In USA, it's said, one should wear white only between Memorial Day and Labor Day; these are American holidays that coincide with the beginning and ending of the summer season. Obviously in France, the holidays would be different. But does France have a fashion rule that white clothes are only for the summer season?
I do see a lot of pictures of people wearing white in Chamonix, during the snow season. But I don't see people in Paris wearing white in the winter.

Apologies. I wasn't clear. Generally, it is considered slightly strange in USA to wear predominantly white outfits outside of the summer season. For instance, if I wore white pants outside of the summer season in USA, someone would jokingly remind me that I'm breaking the rule and the fashion police would "get me."
